Xbox 360 wireless network adapter or regular network adapter?
Could I just use a regular network adapter for the 360? The price of one seems expensive.
Does a 360 wireless network adapter work on laptops?
No to both questions.
This is because every USB device needs a software driver installed on the system, so the computer or console knows what to do with the data it recieves from the USB port (i.e. if it’s a portable harddisc, a digital camera, a WLAN adapter, a mouse or whatever).
Since you can’t install any drivers on the Xbox 360 yourself, you’ll have to get hardware, that already has Microsoft’s drivers preinstalled. And this means the original WLAN accessory.
If you want to save money, you could look for a Ethernet WLAN bridge or a Ethernet over Powerline adapter like the Devolo Power Lan devices, that transfer Network data over your power outlet wall sockets.
