I was under the impression that each game system had it’s own HDMI cables. Turns out, they’re all the same. Well, I bought these specifically for my XBox 360 and after finding out that the HDMI cables were universal, was still pleased with my purchase. It was cheaper than any set they had at Walmart, Target, or Best Buy. Thanks! Works great on the 47″. Amazing picture and sound. Can’t wait to get XBox Live for my fiance. HDMI and Audio connectors for XBox

This resolved a problem with an XBox factory issue where I needed to use an HDMI cable and a separate audio only connection to the XBox. The HDMI connector provided by XBOX was configured so large at the connection point that the audio cable connection would not work…you had to use one or the other. This cable in conjunction with a separate HDMI from Amazon solved the problem completely at cost savings as well. Highly recommend.

It does what your TV can’t!

This is needed in quite a few cases. 
1) you need optical out to hook to your receiver or digital speaker setup while using HDMI for video 
2) you need RCA out but use HDMI for video and goofy Microsoft chose to make the standard connector block the HDMI port 
3) you (and I, and my dad) need it because the SPDIF out from your HDMI video supporting TV or monitor only outputs 2.0 channel audio 

For any other reason, you should not buy this product. 

Reason #3 exists because HDMI spec polls the downstream device to see what it supports. I have an Asus 26″ monitor connected and it has internal stereo speakers. It will respond that it only supports stereo instead of ‘lying’ and saying 5.1. This blows. My dad’s 42″ Panasonic 1080p plasma suffers from the same problem. NOT ALL TELEVISIONS DO so do your homework, call the company, bring your xbox into the store, do SOMETHING to verify your situation ahead of time.

I’ve had my Elite system for quite a while now and just upgraded my computer/gaming consoles surround sound system to a Sony HTSS360 that had two Fiber Optical inputs, which is perfect for my Xbox360 and PS3. I didn’t really know what the RCA/Fiber cable was going to be used for at first because I had the sound coming from the HDMI cable through the monitor to my old Sony 2.1 sound system via headphone jack. Once I got the whole system set up and everything connected the sound just blew me away. I’m no audiophile, but the upgrade in sound quality was immense. I’m hearing things that I never heard before in games and the delivery using the fiber opt is spot on. So to those looking to upgrade to get crisp, clear and full 5.1 surround sound should use the fiber optic option.

What I needed to connect both HDMI and optical audio simultaneously

This kit includes both an HDMI cable and an RCA/Optical Audio adapter. The RCA/Optical Audio adapter has connections for both digital optical and RCA-type audio. If you just want to connect your Xbox 360 to your TV or A/V receiver via HDMI, you can probably get by with an HDMI cable alone (and these can be obtained very inexpensively). I needed this kit because I need to use both the HDMI connection (to my A/V receiver) and the digital optical audio output (to my Turtle Beach wireless gaming headphones) at the same time. The RCA/Optical adapter that came with my Xbox 360 has such a large-size connector that it blocks the HDMI port, so I couldn’t use both at the same time. The RCA/Optical Audio adapter in this package has a smaller connector so that both HDMI and RCA/Optical audio can be plugged in simultaneously. I give it 5 stars because it does all that it is supposed to do and works well. The list price is too pricey so I bought it used through an Amazon 3rd-party seller and it was just like new (and in fact may be new, but just not in the original packaging).

I’d go with the HDMI converter; seems pretty cool. However you’d then have to buy an HDMI cable so it would probably be less expensive to get the MS VGA cable. Either way you should be able to get 1080p. Good luck.
