What will happen if i flash my xbox 360 dvd drive the wrong way?
I just want to make backups for my games. if flash my drive the wrong way what will happen and will be able to go back.
It is possible to “brick” it, which at that point you would not be able to go back. This is if in the middle of a flash, you disconnected or something. The firmware would they be corrupt and not work. You may be able to recover from it and you may not be able to…better to not get in that situation. It’s pretty hard to, you literally have to cut the power off midway through a flash.
If you for some reason get the incorrect key or don’t get a key at all before erasing/overwriting your firmware, you are boned. Technically the drive still works, but there is no way to make it or any other drive work with your console again. The key is basically a password the dvd drive uses to communicate with your xbox. If the xbox doesn’t get the correct key, it will refuse any data from the drive. When you are in the process of reading your key, check it multiple times to make sure it comes out with the same key everytime.
Otherwise as long as you are sure you have the correct key, and make good flashes everytime, you can always continue to switch back and forth between firmwares.
