Discover What Is World of Warcraft Raiding
Raiding is the term used when groups with more than 5 people venture into dungeons created for a high number of people.
These dungeons usually contains the best rewards available in the game, however you must work hard for them. Most bosses have a hard tactic to master, and requires a lot of time to practice on. Therefore, pick up groups extremely rarely succeed in these dungeons. The best thing a person should do to be a part of these dungeons is to find a raiding guild.
Guild
A guild is a group of people, much like a clan, fighting together for the same goal. When raiding with your guild, you have the advantage of not replacing too many people from one raid to the other, making it easier to eventually succeed with taking down a boss. Most active raiding guilds have a website or a forum where you can contact them.
It is also here you apply to join the guild. Some people might think this is a game, not some job. I will tell you why you should send an application and why you should send a detailed one.
Successful raids depend on focused, skilled and smart players. When raiding, a single error or mistake might kill all of your team mates and lead to failure. That is why they want to know who you are, how experienced, skilled and smart you are, by asking for a detailed application.
If you want to get a guild, write a good, detailed application where you brag about yourself and your experience, but do not lie. It will eventually backfire at you. The first impression of the application says a lot about who you are. It reveals if youve thrown together an application in a few minutes, or really worked with it. Do not fail on the application part!
If your application has been accepted, most guilds have a trial period over a few weeks. It is important to be involved in whats happening and play good.
Ask questions if youre unsure about what to do on a boss, remember to tell guild members thanks if they provide you with information, even though you already know it. Be active in discussions, but dont overdo it.
Loot
All guilds have different systems on how to do it, but it is mostly a DKP (Dragon Kill Points) system. You get guild currency (DKP) after attending a raid or taking down a boss (note, this might vary from guild to guild.) which you can use to buy items.
Other means of loot distributing are rolling, guild leaders decide who gets the item or a mix of either. No matter what it is, you should look into your guild loot distributing system so there will be no extra time used on that when youre actually raiding.
Dungeons
There are several raid dungeons in the game at the moment, but some are outdated and not worth going into. I will list them by difficulty level.
- Zul Gurub: This dungeon has a nice jungle-theme. It is made for 20 people at level 60. It is a pre-expansion instance, and not worth going into.
- Molten Core: In this dungeon you are inside a mountain, fighting Ragnaros the Firelord minions and finally Ragnaros himself. It is made for 40 people at level 60. It is a pre-expansion instance, and not worth checking out.
- Onyxis Lair: The home of Onyxia. It is made for 40 people at level 60. It is a pre-expansion instance, and not worth checking out.
- Blackwing Lair: This dungeon is the home of Blackrocks leader, Nefarian, who also is the last boss. It is made for 40 people at level 60. It is a pre-expansion instance, and not worth checking out.
- Ahn Qiraj: These dungeons are filled with ancient creatures. There are two dungeons, one for 20 people and one for 40 people. The one for 40 people is definitely the hardest. It is a pre-expansion instance, and most likely not worth checking out.
- Naxxramas: This dungeon is the home of Kel Thuzad, the leader of the scourge, making this a dungeon filled with undeads. It is made for 40 people at level 60. It was the last pre-expansion instance, so it might be worth checking out.
- Karazhan: This is the first dungeon in the expansion. It is made for 10 people at level 70. There are some quests you must do in here to get to further instances, so you should complete it.
- Gruuls Lair: This dungeon is relatively easy with only two bosses. The second boss in this instance is needed for a quest to advance into harder raid dungeons, so you must check this place out. It is made for 25 people at level 70.
- Magtheridons Lair: The home of Magtheridon. You need to defeat him to advance futher in raiding. It is made for 25 people at level 70.
- Serpentshrine Cavern: The home of Lady Vashj. You need to defeat her to advance further in raiding. It is made for 25 people at level 70.
- The Eye: This dungeon is needed to advance further in raiding. It is made for 25 people at level 70.
- Battle of Mount Hyjal: Go back in time to the battle at the world tree. It is made for 25 people at level 70.
- Black Temple: Face Illidans army and eventually Illidan himself. It is made for 25 people at level 70.

which one is better, world of warcraft or online dungeons and dragons?
I’ve played both and don’t really have a “which-is-better” sort of answer. Here’s my pros and cons of each.
World of Warcraft (WOW)
Pros
- Big map … Lots of areas to explore.
- Plenty of interactions with NPC and instances / questing areas
- Professions include a twist to allow players to create new weapons (e.g. weaponsmith, leathercrafter etc) or to make money (e.g. skinners, herbalists)
- You’ve got until level up to 60 (70 if you have the expansion)
- instances can be between size of 5 to maximum 40 characters playing together.
- You get experience points for killing the monsters. Running an instance partially still gives you experience points for any of the quests you complete / enemies you kill.
Cons
- Map is TOO big and travelling is an absolute hassle sometimes, even after you get your mount.
- Options make the game a little more complex as the player can do quite a bit to customise the character as their own.
- Stuck with one class. No option to multiclass.
- Talents (skills) are fixed to a certain degree, limiting the user’s choice of customising the character to get the best results out.
Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
Pros
- Map is easily accessible. There isn’t too big terrains to travel to get to instances.
- Quests are normally tied to the instances you go to.
- Players can customise their characters by multi-classing them with other classes to get a mixture of skill points and skills.
Cons
- Map is relatively small (compared to WOW) and the scenary gets boring after a while.
- You only get experience points AFTER completing the entire instance / dungeon.
- Money mostly comes from killing stuff and selling their loot, or from rewards.
* DISCLAIMER: I haven’t played DDO in quite a while, so please excuse me if any of the things pointed out here is inaccurate.
