There’s simply nothing quite like it on this world, and even though it has its dissenters, World of Warcraft the MMORPG is one of the best of its kind. For those of you who are unwilling to take this on the faith of a whopping 8 million users, you have a chance at experiencing this firsthand in the form of the World of Warcraft demo.
This “try before you buy” World of Warcraft demo policy of Blizzard’s is good in that they give potential users the ability to sink their teeth into the World of Warcraft with no risk on their sides. If they don’t like the game they can walk away without having to worry that they had to pay to create an account.
The World of Warcraft demo is also good in that resources of Warcraft are yours to use as you will for the ten days, no holds barred. This will allow you to experience Warcraft to its fullest and give you a taste for playing the game, which you might otherwise be hesitant to do if you need to first of all fork out some money.
The only limit that the World of Warcraft demo imposes is the ten day limit. Other than that you would go through the normal steps of creating an account, creating your character, and then playing.
Well, there is one other limit imposed by the World of Warcraft demo, and that is that you are only limited to creating one character, whereas with the full version, you have the option of creating up to a maximum of 50 characters, with 10 characters per server.
To start your free World of Warcraft demo you will first need to go to the World of Warcraft website and follow the links to help you create your World of Warcraft demo account.

mac or pc for me?
What I want in my computer:
-Lots of storage to hold my downloaded torrents
-A graphics card that plays World of Warcraft
-Fast, able to multitask
-Not too expenisve
-Easy-to-use
-No viruses
-No stupid demos (AOL, McAfee, 30-day-free-trial!, etc.) that drives me crazy
P.S. Can I add DDR2 memory to an iMac 20 inch 2.16 Ghz?
Get a Mac. Easy to use, almost no viruses, fast, secure, stable…you won’t regret it. Despite what you may hear from others, there is lots and lots of Mac software out there (including World of Warcraft), and Macs are not particularly expensive — you can get a Mac mini for less than US$600. I don’t recall what kind of RAM iMacs take; check the specs on Apple’s website.
If you’re switching from Windows, see http://www.apple.com/support/switch101 for some general information, and note that if you really need to, you can run Windows software on a Mac. (You probably won’t need to, though.)
Also, save $300 or so by not buying Microsoft Office. Download NeoOffice/J instead ( http://www.neooffice.org ). It does everything MS Office does, but it’s free.
Good luck! If you need more advice, feel free to e-mail me at marnen AT marnen DOT org. I’ve been using Macs for 20 years, and I’ll be happy to help.
