How To Play Mario Games Online
Mario is one of the most iconic video game characters ever. He appears in just about every video game character top 10 and has been around since the early eighties. He has appeared in over 200 games across a multitude of different gaming platforms.
He has also spawned an entire collection of fan based online games. These games are usually written in Flash or Java and are just as much fun as the original Mario games like Super Mario Brothers.
Mario initially appeared in the now classic arcade game, “Donkey Kong” in which he was pitted against a crazy monkey that hurled barrels down at Mario from the top of a building. The aim of the game was to make it to the top and save the Princess.
It’s a testament to Mario’s popularity that he continues to appear in new video games today and there seems to be no stopping his reign at the top of the video game kingdom.
If you’re planning to play Mario games online you need to make sure you are able to run Flash or Java depending on which one the online game uses. You should also be careful not to download any harmful viruses or spyware which may harm your computer. Always make sure you have a virus scanner running and it has been updated to offer the latest protection.
Most online Mario games will run in your browser and only require a plug-in. There are also downloadable Mario games but you probably need to be more careful with these types of games since you are downloading directly to your computer. Again be sure to run a virus scanner on anything you download.
There are currently thousands of Mario game sites on the Internet and some are better than others. Look for sites with a large number of Mario games and especially a game called “Infinite Mario”as this is my personal favorite. It bears a close resemblance to Super Mario Brothers but is unique in the fact that the levels are created dynamically and no two levels are ever the same!
There are also a lot of Mario themed games like puzzle and card games. There is even a version of Mario Tetris! All in all these Mario games are a lot of fun and you should enjoy many happy hours playing them!
If these online games aren’t enough for you there are also a vast number of Mario games you can play on the various video game consoles. Some of these require a newer console like the Wii but there are also games available on auction sites like eBay for older consoles like the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES.
You can also buy these older consoles for a taste of retro gaming at its finest! You can pick up a SNES console and Mario game for around $50-$60 on eBay. Not bad when you consider you’ll own a little piece of video game history!
There are also emulators which work on your computer. These effectively turn your PC into a particular game console able to run games from that console. There are some issues to the legality of playing such games as the original games may still be under copyright but there are usually homebrew versions of the games written by fans which are legal to play.
